Privacy & document retention

Severance documents are sensitive. This page explains exactly what we do with yours, how long we keep it, and when it is destroyed. Fee, scope and liability terms live in the engagement agreement.

What we collect

  • Account details you give us: name, email, phone.
  • Engagement details you enter during intake: employer name, state, timelines, the figures in your offer or severance package, and your goals.
  • Documents you choose to upload: offer letters, employment agreements, severance agreements and related correspondence.
  • Payment records handled by our payment processor. We never store full card numbers.

How documents are processed

  • Uploads are stored in a private bucket. Only you and assigned Fulcrum Employment Advisory staff can retrieve them.
  • Before any text is sent to an AI model for extraction, it is scrubbed of direct identifiers — names, emails, phone numbers, addresses and government ID numbers.
  • AI output is a draft only. A Fulcrum Employment Advisory advisor reviews and confirms every finding before it reaches your playbook.
  • AI models are used for extraction and drafting support. They do not make decisions about your engagement.

Raw document retention & purge

  • Raw uploaded files and their extracted text are permanently deleted 30 days after your case is closed.
  • You receive an in-portal warning 7 days before deletion so you can download anything you want to keep.
  • After the purge we retain the confirmed findings, your published playbook, invoices and audit records. The raw files themselves are gone and cannot be restored.
  • You can ask us to purge a closed case's raw files earlier. Every purge is written to an internal retention log.

Confidentiality

  • Fulcrum Employment Advisory treats your engagement as confidential and is bound by the mutual NDA in our engagement terms.
  • You are responsible for confirming that sharing your severance documents with an advisor is permitted under any confidentiality clause you have signed.
  • We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with your employer.

Your choices

  • You can update your profile, review your signed engagement terms and see each case's purge date in the client portal.
  • You can request deletion of your account and remaining data by contacting us. Financial and audit records are retained where we are required to keep them.
